Tracking

The calendar of nights you actually wrote

Tracking is the calendar. Nights, dated. It is the room you open when you want to know what this month actually held — not a streak to protect, not a chart of how good you are at journaling. Days you wrote are marked. Days you did not stay quiet. Both are information.

Moving around the month

The arrows at the top change month and year. You can walk backward into a season of nights you already told, or forward if you dated something ahead. The calendar is the month you are looking at, not a feed. If a day has a night, it is marked. If more than one journal landed on that date, the day can carry more than one color — two nights, two marks, same square.

Opening a day

Click a marked day and the right gutter opens. It is a reading of that date, not a copy of the chat. You will see a title, a short summary, a longer detail when there is one, then the clues and insights that belonged to those journals, then who was there, where you were, the weather of the dream, what felt sacred, what you felt. Under that, the journals themselves. Click a journal row and you leave Tracking and land in that thread, exactly where you left it.

Click the same day again, or the close control, or empty space behind the gutter, to put it away. Escape does the same. You can page through months with the gutter closed; you can keep it open and click another day. It replaces. It does not stack.

What it is for

Tracking answers a different question than Paradigm. Paradigm is "how do these nights connect in space." Tracking is "when did I actually sit down, and what was that date holding." Use it when you remember it was a Tuesday and the feeling, but not the title. Use it when you want to see a week that was loud. Use it when you have not written in a while and you want to read a night instead of starting from zero — open the last marked day, open the journal, keep talking.

The date on a journal is the night's date. If you are writing in the afternoon about a dream from 4am, it still belongs to that night. That is how a week of 3am visitations stays a week of 3am visitations on the calendar, instead of smearing across the days you found time to type.
