Pins on the map
A night becomes a place you can find again
A night becomes a place you can find again. That is what a pin is. You wrote a journal — a fragment, a person, a climate, whatever stayed — and Paradigm set it on the map. Not as decoration. Not as a trophy. As a place. The origin sits at the center, the in.between mark, rings out, the place the nights are measured from. You come here when you want to see where the nights sit, not to reread every sentence. There is no audience. The pins are yours.
One Night, One Pin
Each journal is a pin. One night, one place on the board. A brand new house with one fragment will look sparse. That is correct. Pins appear as journals exist. They are not ornaments you add to make the board look like a life. If you have not written the night, there is nothing to pin. You do not pin a feeling by itself. You do not pin a still. You write, and the map keeps the night.
Markers keeps the pictures. The Index keeps the names. Tracking keeps the dates. Paradigm keeps the place. If the board looks empty, write another night and come back. Quiet nights still count. Do not wait for a recurring house before you look at the map. The first pin is already a place.
The Origin At The Center
The origin is not a night. It is the center the nights are measured from — the in.between mark, rings spreading out. If you get lost on the board, find the origin and work back. You can pan. You can zoom. The origin is how you come home on the map the way New Entry is how you come home in the writing.
You do not move the origin. You do not decorate it. You do not drop a pin on it to make the house look occupied. It is the house's center, not a night you arrange. Pins sit where the nights placed them until you decide a cluster belongs together on one side of the board. The origin stays. That is the point of a center.
Opening A Place
Click a pin — a click with no slide — and the right gutter opens. A reading of that night: how it sits with the others, who was there, where you were, the climate, what you felt, the journal itself. Open the journal from that list and you are back in the thread. This is seeing the night as a place, not hunting a title in the left rail.
If you remember it was near the others like it, come to Paradigm. If you remember it was a Tuesday, go to Tracking. If you remember a name, search the rail. The pin is the door for when the night is a location in you. Escape closes the gutter. A click on empty space does too.
Moving What You Need To Find
Drag empty space to pan. Drag a pin if you want it somewhere else — nights that belong in one glance pulled to a side, a one-off given room. Once you move a pin, it stays where you put it. Click is not drag. If you meant to open one and the gutter did not appear, you probably moved a little. Let go and click again without sliding.
You arrange pins so your eye can find them at 2am. You do not arrange them to make a picture for anyone else. Nalani sits in the thread, one question at a time, a warm friend, not a verdict. Folders can stack the same nights under a name you chose. The pin is the night as a place.
A Sparse Map Is Still A Map
Write a few more nights in the same rooms and the cluster will be there when you come back. Paradigm is slow on purpose. It is a map of what you kept, not a promise of what you will keep. Traveler is enough to start — no card required. A single pin near the origin is a complete map for a first week.
Do not chase a crowded board. Chase the image. Come back tomorrow if another piece surfaces. The pin will still be there, a place you can find again. If you delete a journal, that place leaves with it. If you are not sure, leave the pin. Quiet nights still count. The house was built for return, not for a map that looks finished.
